This spring, through the generous support from the Great Physician Society(www.greatps.org), our director Peter Maduka had the privilege of being part of a medical missions trip to the Dominican Republic. This trip was through the Global Health Outreach(GHO) platform(www.cmda.org/global-health-outreach) and our director was part of a group of student doctors from the Christian Medical and Dental Associations - Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine chapter.
While sharing on the impact of this trip, Peter Maduka stated,"As a student doctor, it was such a privilege to work alongside other students and learn from a group that comprised of physician and non physician health care providers from different specialties including surgery, neonatology, primary care, sports medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine etc. The team included dentists, pharmacists, dental hygienist, physical therapists, nurses of different levels, physician assistants etc". "This trip was truly insightful as I observed from a passenger seat and gleaned a lot from the GHO leadership who have years of experience in serving under-served, underrepresented groups with medicine and the love of God".
He continued, "Also, having the opportunity to participate in a medical mission team to an under-served population while in medical school was invaluable as it availed me the opportunity to stay plugged into my passion, reminding myself of the reason I'm here and being inspired for the work ahead"
